What are the potential side effects of hyaluronic acid dermal filler injections?
You may experience post-injection reactions. Potential side effects related to the implantation of the filler occur immediately following the injection or after a delay. These include, among others, i) local manifestations such as inflammatory reactions (erythema, oedema, pain at the injection site), haematomas, itching, temporary loss of sensitivity around the injected area, dyschromia, abscesses, indurations, nodules (possibly granulomas), migration of the implant; ii) general manifestations such as immediate hypersensitivity up to anaphylactic shock.14-17 Rare but serious adverse events associated with the intravascular injection of soft tissue fillers in the face have been reported and include temporary or permanent vision impairment or blindness, skin necrosis and stroke.20 Ask your practitioner for advice and about possible side effects. If you experience side effects after your injection, please inform our Materiovigilance Department at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
